Performance as Sheriff notwithstanding, I hold the opinion that past behavior is indicative of future behavior.
FWIW, he jumped on the Joyce/IACP anti-gun bandwagon while serving as Sheriff, and endorsed Guiliani while Sheriff.
Press conference at the so-called "peace sculpture" (while sheriff). I don't know the exact content, but the choice of location leads me to believe it wasn't in celebration of the
Heller decision.
On a more personal note, at least from my point of view:
Why doesn't he wear his gun when appearing in public? I'm inclined to think he either 1) thinks he doesn't need it or 2) is afraid it might offend/scare people. These are not qualities I look for in a law enforcement officer.
