One universal in militaries around the world is the inter force rivalry, sometimes it gets pretty hard core.

But they are usually great slams on one another. :D

Chief ..........what is this inter force rivalry you speak of ??

Rivalry would seem to indicate a somewhat equal footing to start with. (Which those of us in the correct branch realize does not exist)

Now keep in mind that the Navy is the Senior Service. It may also help you Marines to remember that the Corps is part of the Department of the Navy

I will have to print that up and show it to the retired RMC RSM who lives a couple of blocks away.

The US Air Force Chief-of-Staff would never be called -- Airman
The Chief-of-Naval Operations would never be called -- Sailor
The Commanding General of The US Army would never be called -- Soldier
BUT the Commandant of the Marine Corps is proud to be called -- Marine

And he calls SceNav Sir. Actually there have been several CNO's know as Sailors. There are many Admirals who felt that was the greatest of compliments.

I would like to think each of these senior officers thought of themselves as such.
