Does anyone here know if suppressors are taxed as an Any Other Weapon ($5.00) or at the $200.00 rate?
Thanks,

Not sure...although I can tell you that neither option is allowed here in MN:
609.66 Dangerous weapons:
Quote: Subd. 1a. Felony crimes; silencers prohibited; reckless discharge. (a) Except as otherwise provided in subdivision 1h, whoever does any of the following is guilty of a felony and may be sentenced as provided in paragraph (b): (1) sells or has in possession any device designed to silence or muffle the discharge of a firearm;

I'm in Indy and am buying a class 3 as a curiosity (and investment...those suckers go up in value FAST). We're allowed full auto, pen guns, briefcase guns, short barreled shotguns, and suppressors. Basically anything .50 cal and smaller and no significant explosives (though you can get dynamite and the like if you need it for farming or construction or something).

Minnesota does ban suppressors. Suppressors fall under the $200 tax stamp.
Any Other Weapon (AOW) $5, are still allowed. I believe the 2 shot pocket shotgun (developed in MN) was an AOW. And this beauty is an AOW.

Absolutely gorgeous. After I get my Uzi/MAC-10/Sten/whatever I get, and then my 7mm, I'm going to have to get one of those.

Exceptions. Nothing in this section prohibits the possession of the articles mentioned by museums or collectors of art or for other lawful purposes of public exhibition.
So if you join Minnesota Weapon's Collectors Association, perhaps some national equvilents and some art groups, can you own one (after following the BATF rules)? Or would the BATF simply refuse to issue stamps for them in Minnesota regardless of a person's good standing as a collector?

hmmm, maybe all the carry class teachers should get them (for public exhibition) and turn people on to them. Then we can have a group of people to push to change the law.
I wonder if that exeption would apply to Bill's gun show. It would be neat to shoot with a suppressor.

I HAVE "READ" A LETTER FROM THE BATF THAT SAYS" WE WILL NO LONGER APPROVE SUPPRESORS FOR THE STATE OF MINNESOTA"
SKIPPY OUT AG AT THE TIME TOLD THE BATF THAT HE DID NOT WANT SUPPRESORS IN MINNESOTA. SKIPPY IS OR WAS NO FRIEND OF GUN OWNERS!
