I saw a web page a few months ago of a German company that built a .600 revolver but I don't seem to have the link handy. Tha man holding it looked like an elf holding a SW .44.

Yeah, there's a thread over on Bill's forums right now regarding the .600 NE. It just passes you along to this forum thread.

The videos at the end of the post are quite entertaining; I have seen the second one reposted other places (with various [incorrect] claims about what type of handgun the man must've been shooting).

Somewhere in between the reaction of the first guy shooting it & the second guy's experience is approximately what I went through when I touched off both barrels of my side-by-side 12GA simultaneously once :D With full-velocity slugs loaded. Ah, memories.

A .600 Nitro Express handgun would be nuts. I think some of the BFR calibers are nuts -- .45-70?!?

But I also think this http://www.accuratereloading.com/700ne.html is completely nuts as well -- .700 Nitro Express.

1000 grain bullets, 2500 feet per second, 13,000 ft lbs of muzzle energy. 250 grains of powder, with two extra grains of bullseye as an additional igniter, as primers couldn't reliably ignite the powder.

How do you actually shoot something like that? The BMGs seem to have a fair amount of recoil even with the gas action.

Just what would you shoot with it, anyway? Dangerous African game at very close ranges or T-72 tanks?
