How many of you leave your DL in the car and only bring in the copy?

Some one want to try the DL copy only and report back?

No problems in my area. Copies of each and $100.00 gets it done. I haven't had any reports back about requests for originals. It could be happening and I do not hear back from any of them, but from conversations with students as I meet them later, all have said it went smooth. Turnaround is averaging 10 days for those I know about.

Only because you all know each other out there in the sticks:P

Just kidding.............Thanks for the input

key word.......submit

Yup. As is "submit to this extralegal requirement, and thus embolden the sheriffs to make more of them."

The law is CRYSTAL CLEAR, and a few sheriffs are wantonly violating it.

This is exactly where we need to hold the line. We don't get anywhere by ceding ground.

I renewed in Carver -- copy only and no problems. Bud Olson doesn't love the carry law, but he's doing his job.

Fun times when I did my renewal, the deputy said I should have brought the original of the training certificate with me. I offered to let him call my trainer (Andrew), but he said "that would do no good, for all I knew I'd be talking to your brother".

He ended up taking the photocopy anyway.

Just trying to hassle me, I guess.

When we dropped ours off at the end of May, I had the original certificates in a folder with photocopies of them and a bunch of other things as well. I'm always overly prepared. We passed along our copies of DLs, certificates and the applications, as well as our actual DLs (even though not asked). I did, however, ask him if he wanted to see the original certificates and he said nope, he only needed the copies. Also, I'm pretty sure his ID badge said something like "community relations - not an officer." Sounds like inconsistency between staffers at the window.

My renewed Hennepin County permit arrived yesterday, which was 30 days exactly. I also got an extra day added to my expiration date.

Went to the desk (this was two months ago) and was helped by a very genial guy who didn't seem to exude the "oh, lookie here, another whacko-loner-gun-nut!" attitude that my paranoia had led me to expect, who was friendly and normal and joked around, and who nicely fixed an error I had made on the app. He asked me how many guns I had, I told him, (three), and he handed me three cable-locks and said "these are for your kids." I liked that.

Then, on the thirtieth day, the permit arrived.

Now, if I can just figure out where I left the cable-lock keys . . .

In Anoka, two of us went together for our initial permit paid cash and we both received our permits via the mail the same day, exactly 30 day's later.

Oh, and welcome isetfires! (however your log on is a bit concerning...)

Did you ask him how was the best way to lock up the kids with those cable locks? Should they go ear to ear or ear to mouth (like a fish)?

"Ain't" it the truth.

Prudence in personal actions always lessens issues brought about personally. :)
