http://www.chicagotribune.com/news/local/chi-federal_jury_verdictjun13,0,4630555.story
The initial incident is kind of old, but the jury award is recent.
Quote: A trained nurse, Rachelle Jackson immediately ran toward the sound of the crash. A Chicago police car had collided with another vehicle and was starting to smoke, two officers still inside. Fearing an explosion, she quickly pulled one officer from the passenger side. She never imagined her act of kindness nearly six years ago would land her in jail for more than 10 months on charges that she robbed, battered and disarmed a peace officer. ... As David Codrea points out, Quote: They don't want us lifting a finger one way, I guess I won't lift a finger the other way, either. Not if it means putting my freedom at risk.

I wish to speak with my attorney and I do not consent to any search!
I'm glad they spanked the Chitown police for that one!

I don't know what to make of this one.
Second City is no fan of dirty cops or bureaucratic bungling, but he seems to be pretty sure that this one isn't all that it seems.
Just another reason to stay out of Chicago, I guess.

I should have mentioned I added Second City to my RSS reader on Reaver3's recommendation. I know we have it bad in Minneapolis, but holy crap, it's nothing compared to Chicago.

So according to Second City a woman who just got done assaulting and robbing one of their co-workers cheerfully went down to the station to tell about what she'd done, and a State's Attorney conspired to help cover up the assault on the officer by destroying evidence . . .
I'm pretty sure I know which version I believe is more likely.
