A friend of mine is a new permit holder and is looking for a local (Twin Cities) store which has a decent selection for his P226.

Anyone have any suggestions?

The largest selection of holsters I've seen in the Twin Cities has been at

Streicher's
10911 W. Highway 55
Minneapolis, MN 55441-0398
(800) 367-3763 Toll-Free Phone

They are just west of Hwy 165 on Hwy 55 (Right behind this new parking ramp on the south side of the Hwy).

I don't think Streichers normally stocks Sig holsters. They told me they usually don't when I was looking for one.

I should have said, I was not sure if they carried SIG holsters, but it was the largest selection of holsters I've seen in the Twin Cities.

I've been using BearClaw holster's kydex for the past year and it's worked out for me really well ... for your consideration:

With very few exceptions, they only stock holsters for guns that are issued by local PDs.

Bill's pretty clearly has the widest and deepest holster selection in the Twin Cities; that said, it's still pretty thin. All in all, I'd recommend that people shopping for holsters go on the Internet.

^^^ Which is pretty sad. You'd think +40k permit holders might want to shop for some product in person.

Well, yeah, but there's lots of different holsters, and lots of different guns, and a bricks-and-mortar store is still going to have to compete against the 'net shops, which means fairly low margins -- I ran the numbers a couple of years back (I was trying to see if it would be practical for Mark Koscielski to turn his store into a full-service carry shop, since he clearly wasn't going to be able to sell guns anymore), and I don't think it would work. If you look at Bill's, for example, I'd be surprised to see them doing a lot of turns on their holsters.

Holster shopping locally I've never had much luck with but for what it's worth I really like my comp-tac CTAC holster for my 226 ordered direct from their website.
