Paul Thissen is the guy who hopes to "make his bones" by EXPANDING the grounds for a mental health disqualification from possessing a firearm. Ever see a shrink for any reason, ever felt depressed and told your doctor, ever taken prozac? No guns for you.
Last week Susan Gaertner (DFL, Ramsey County County Attorney) was out at the range having her photograph taken holding a gun. She's behind Sheriff Fletcher and Atty Lookingbill. An anti who lets others "front" for her.
Tom Bakk (DFL, Cook) would be great for gun owners but he's from the less populous Range.

You have got to be kidding me.

Gaertner is the nepotist, right?

Not a second look at any of them from me.
Some Republicans that interest me (not in any specific order):
Tony Cornish, Tom Hackbarth, Pat Pariseau, Sue Jeffers, Michelle Bachmann, Marty Seifert. I could probably add a few more to the list.
I would hope that we can find someone to replace Tim Pawlenty.

Would that be a promotion for her?
I don't know the pecking order.

I think it would be a promotion. There have been Gov's that have gone on to US Senators and higher offices. Also their are only 50 Gov's. She talks plain talk, and walks the walk. I like her style, even though others may not.
What I think would be in the best interest of my party is to have many throw in their hats against T.P. in the primary. That would limit the opportunity for party payback against any one individual. The governor has let many of us down over the last few years. He wants higher office. I say lets free him up to pursue it.
I believe pretty much any of the ones I mentioned earlier could make a strong run against any of the Dems noted.

I think the Republicans could put up someone better than Bachmann.
Anyone think Franken will run for Governor when he loses the recount?

You've got more faith than I do. I firmly believe that Franken is going to win the recount because Democrats know how to "massage" the recount to ensure that their person wins. If they don't win the first time, they'll demand another one to give themselves a second chance at getting it right. For any questions, see the Washington state governor's race from a couple of years ago.
Say hello to Senator Smalley.

It'll be interesting to see how many votes each candidate picks up during the recount. My guess is Franken gets triple what Coleman does.

The DFL will "find" however many votes Franken needs no matter how statistically improbable. The Minnesota courts will uphold whatever is done.
Those who "like" government are better at it than those who "dislike" government. It's a wonder the Republicans ever win anything in Minnesota.
