Ttousi mentioned to me that Striechers had Glock 17's trade ins for sale for $300. I contacted the store and they were out. Last week they called and had more and I picked one up ...$300...three magazines (10's though). Mine had night sights also. Gun was a generation 3, vintage 2002 or so, and had the E series serial number prefix (the one that was recalled for frame issues.) This one had already been sent back to Glock for the frame upgrade.
It looked internally like it had barely been shot. Externally it showed holster wear on the slide. For the price, great deal.

Well, okay; then I won't mention that this apparently is Glock 22 week at the Plymouth store; $300. They look pretty good, although not pristine.

I was at Burnsville a week or so, and was going over the latest copy of Chicks and Ammo (or whatever the gun mag was), and read the only sensible article I've ever seen in one of the gun rags about buying used cop guns. Instead of the usual nonsense about how shooting somebody with the same gun/ammo that the cops carry will keep you out of trouble, it made a simple, sensible point -- that used cop guns are generally in decent shape, and available at reasonable prices. (The author took about 2000 words to say that, but you can't have everything . . . )
