I can tell quite well but that's looking at them, a photo is a different game but my guess is that it's airsoft. Mainly because of the mag, it could be the light but it just doesn't look right.

The scope mount looks..... un-right.... Serious scopes are usually on a nice weaver base, don't ya think?

Naw - those HK's do use a claw mount.

Huh, I did some more looking . .. the fella the pic belongs to alleges that it is a PTR91, first he insisted it was a HK91, but eventually backpeddaled.

I think I found my answer.

The grip should be two piece and made of (part 33) stamped steel and plastic (part 34)

And there are two dimples in the steel stamping near the trigger on the real PTR91:

Thanks all, I think I have caught this turkey.

I'm calling Airsot, the scope mount and mag look different... Off

But mostly my reasoning is that the targets on the left are 3" Round Bullseye Shoot-N-C Targets stickons.... Way to small for a Rifle IMO...

ETA... Nice work Macx....

that looks like a Navy lower which is a one piece polymer....

The lower is the control function of the gun and if he is claiming this to be a full auto PTR, if very well might be, as the fire control group on the HK is what gets the tax stamp, much like the sear on the M16 is the taxable part.

Right on. On another forum (not gun related) the owner of the first pic in this thread was spouting some really outlandish tripe, and I called him on it. Among other things he was suggesting that a GSG5 could be rechambered to 9mm to make a U.S. civy legal MP5, there are BIG problems with that. Same fella believes that the Barrett M82 is the end all and be all of general purpose rifle. Just a level of ignorance that, was hard to ignore.

So when he started bragging that he owns a HK91 with which he can score multiple hits on pop cans at 300 yards . . . I started asking for proof. I suggested that he post a "standard Internet proof pic" with a date stamp and something hand written related to the thread & perhaps something with the action open or otherwise proving it to not be airsoft. That first pic is what he produced, no date stamp, nothing hand written.

Thanks for letting me know about the Navy Trigger Group. My next bit of curiosity is, were PTRs available with Navy trigger groups or how hard would it be to swap a HK navy trigger group onto a PTR. I don't know much about HK's.

A PTR is supposed to be better than an HK, because they are built on newer and better equipment, as part of the
end user agreement with Pakistan, they had to buy the best and latest in machine tooling from Germany as part of
getting the license and proprietary information for manufacture.

Those who have shot them, say that they are more accurate, and better finished that german made HK's for Military use..

I have no trouble believing that a good shot could hit the targets he claims, if its him saying that he made those shots
I have no clue.

Yes a Navy control group should fit right in, with little or no fitting required, as in all other aspects, this is a G3 HK, only made
somewhere other than germany. Every HK i have dealt with was very plug and play friendly.

If you can get a higher resolution pic, you should be able to read the writing on the mag well,
An airsoft would not say PTR, but HK,

ammending to read, the deal was with Portugal, not Pakistan, my head was still reading a michael yon
dispatch and I had pakistan on the brain

Please submit both examples to me forthwith so I may function test them appropriately, sir.
