I'm in Atlanta right now ... it obviously has major crime problems. Every parking lot has a security guard. Last night at Walmart they had two security guards in the lot and armed cops in the store. I wasn't sure if the cops were after the employees or the customers as both groups seemed more derelict than what I'm used to. Reciprocity made me feel better prepared but not safer.
BIG contrast with Branson, Missouri (was there two nights ago). At Branson I actually felt safe. I didn't see any security people or police (on foot) and none seemed needed. Honestly, I've never been anywhere in my life that I felt safer; not due to any police presence but rather the demeanor and appearance of the people.
Looks like Atlanta might set a precedent on the airport rule
