An employee of the Edina Family Center - a posted school - was robbed at knife point in the school's parking lot while she head headed to her car to go home. Her purse and cell phone were stolen and the suspect got away.

EPD recovered the purse and phone (dunno about any cash or credit cards). Apparently the responding officer was surprised by a robbery in that location, apparently the area has very few issues and the parking lot is well lit and next to two high volume roads.

Haven't seen anything in the news about it - heard this through word-of-mouth.

Two high volume roads? Hwy 100, and the frontage road on the same side of the school. More like escape routes (if in a car).

I am not surprised, this location is perfect. Pick any of the parking lots, only one has any houses that can view the lot. The rest are hidden in the open. I never looked at the lots when driving by.

When traveling long distances one of the things that I have heard it to try to get a hotel off of the highway. What some people do is smash and grab the stuff in your car, and then speed off to the highway and are gone.
