I haven't gone to the fair for years, and plan on going this year....just want to know if they post, and if it is illegal for them to post?

Any feedback appreciated, thanks.

They will post but it will be illegal for them to do so.

I have gone the last 2 years with no problem carrying right past the signs. They do not check nor, as Srigs wrote, can they legally post. So carry and remember, concealed means concealed. Have fun and enjoy. I am looking forward to going myself.

Mrs. Brewman just told me yesterday she wan't to go to the fair this year.
I won't let those pesky non compliant signs stop me from carrying.

Anyone remember if the Rennisance Festival is posted? I have a feeling I'll be going there this year too. I've not been for a while, and don't recall seeing any signs.

There will lots of men wearing tights and carrying swords. I'd go armed.

The state fair has been posted in previous years. Such posting is invalid, and can legally and safely be ignored.

Contrast this with "valid" postings, which can also legally and safely be ignored. :)

So let me add another flavor here:

I am going to a concert AT the fair on the 25th for which I bought a ticket. Would this be a no carry situation?

Not posted.

I take my wife there every year (she just has to have her palms read every year)

I always carry. 8)

Actually the Ren Fest does have a weapons policy:

For the link impaired:

Quote:
WEAPONS::

This policy has been approved by the Scott County Sheriff.

No drawing of any weapon at any time.

Antique Firearms (guns) – Are not allowed

Firearm replicas (toy guns) – Are not allowed

Pikes and Halberds – Are not allowed

Swords, Knives, Dirks & Daggers – Must be completely sheathed and peace- tied

Axes, Claymores & Maces – Are strongly discouraged but if you insist Axes must be sheathed and peace-tied. Claymores and Maces must be peace-tied to your person (strapped to your back, tied to your belt, etc.)

Bow & Arrows – Arrows are not to be drawn at any time. Bows must be un- strung and arrows tied in to the quiver.

Walking sticks/Quarterstaffs – Are allowed

Definitions:

Sheath: a protective covering, usually of thick leather that protects the edge of the blade, the wearer and anyone near them from damage. The sheath must cover the entire blade, not just the tip.

Peace-tied: the method of securing a weapon to the sheath, belt or body of the wearer. If the weapon is not peace-tied upon arrival at the festival a front gate worker must peace tie it for you.

If a weapon is drawn, the patron is subject to loss of weapon, possible removal from the Renaissance Festival property and/or prosecution by Scott County authorities.

All patrons must be at least 18 years old to carry a weapon on site.

If a patron wishes to use a weapon for a special event (such as a wedding), this must be cleared in advance through the entertainment office.

This policy applies to anyone carrying a weapon in with them or purchasing a weapon while at the Festival.

I see nothing there banning modern guns. :)

Also...

Nope. That's called theft, and it's against the law.

Anyway, nothing in that document carries the force of law, despite its "approval." At worst, they could ask you to leave.

Think I'll need to "peace-tie" my Sig? Maybe top it off with a ring of flowers?

I have to wonder what "Antique Firearms" means when it comes to guns. Would a flint lock built recently be ok when a old flint lock be not ok?

The design for 1911s was started about 1895 would they be banned?

I would have to think if my carry firearm of choice was a blunderbus they couldn't stop me from carrying it.
