I went to a rock concert there last night. In the interests of getting to see the concert and not getting banned, I disarmed and removed everything I thought would be an issue from my person (gun/holster, mag, knife, flashlight).

They're not posted, but they do have pat downs for weapons and recording devices. They weren't wanding people. Just pat downs: arms out, feel along the sides, the waist, and front and back pocket areas. Clearly avoiding the groin, not checking anywhere else.

He took particular interest in my Sideguard Holster phone holster, but I showed him it was just the phone. He didn't ask to see what was in my pockets (wallet front left, keys front right). He did see my backup keys latched to my belt loop and told me they don't allow carabiners in because they've been used as weapons before. I didn't want to to back to the truck, so I tossed it in the garbage. The guy in front of me tossed out a cheap, tiny 1" pocket knife for the same reason.

In retrospect, I definitely could have gotten in with smart carry/thunderwear or an ankle holster. If the chain on my neck knife didn't show around the collar, I could have probably just walked right in with that too. And if I had just put my spare keys in my pocket or even removed the carabiner and dropped it in the bottom of the pocket by itself, they would never have noted it.

Pretty poor checks, IMO. Perhaps they're more rigorous on dance nights when they have a lot more questionable attendees than were at the rock concert. :)

They are sloppy on dance nights also. And thunderwear works just fine, or so I have been told.

I was there for a runway show (my girlfriend does makeup for these) and the search was a joke. I don't remember all the details now, but I do remember thinking that sneaking something in would be easy. And by something I mean my .45 XD. Hell, I could strap it to my thigh and wear my kilt. Actually, I could probably get away with that anyplace that doesn't wand. Who is going to risk the liability of sticking their hand up my kilt to see if I'm carrying something on my thigh?

I had to do the walk of shame twice at The Myth when I attended the Cinco de Mayo party a year ago. First for the baseball cap I was wearing and second for the nine on my hip.

I haven't been back; not my kinda place.

When I went to the Myth to see Korn a couple years ago, the security at the door had some variation of these. The ones they had had little green and red LEDs and alerted on my Surefire G2.

Edit: Actually, thismight have been the model.

I escorted my daughter and some of her friends there a year ago when some Emo screamer band was there. thank goodness for ear plugs. WHen I got to the "search" I asked the kid if he had a warrant. and if not he better get his damned hands away from me. He was very startled and I just walked past.

Maybe 10 minutes later a guy shows up and leans in tight and asks why I had a problem with security. I said because its not security, its a joke, and I was there to keep my daughter and her friends out of trouble, he sat there, looked at me for a second and then left. I was left alone all night and I was wearing the designated driver wrist band so I got free pop all night.
