OK actually there was no beer involved but a lack of common sense could be argued. I prefer to blame this one on CPJ. He threw down the $20 bet and I had to play. The Goal was two fold. To see what the porting on the Glock 23C would do under close quarters condition and worse case scenario, to see if it would catch your cloths on fire. Don't try any of this at home, children. Leave it to the professionals (read: stupid people like me).

My very first shot out of the new gun was at the #2 Position or weapon retention position. I did not cant the gun to the 1 o'clock position as would normally be done. I did it this way as a worst case scenario or "like an idiot I forgot" scenario.

I do not recommend this at all. The blast caught me right up the side of the face and since I expected this I had closed my right eye for safety sake. The worst part was the copper shrapnel that embedded itself to the bone of my first knuckle on my left hand middle finger while in the defensive position. I had to dig it out last night with a needle and tweezers.

I then fired a few rounds with the ports pointed directly at my stomach from 1 foot down to 2 inches to see the damage or flames. No flames as I expected. The only damage was to the shirt at 2 inches. A few holes and some stinging sensations. What the hell, lets just bury this rumor and go for the gold.

13 rounds with the ports 2 inches from my abdomen. If there's gonna be a fire it should be now right?

You know, you can test this a bit easier and more safely by just holding a piece of paper over the holes. If the paper burns and/or tears, odds are it's not going to be good for your tender skin.

[ETA: I mean the generic "you." I'm not accusing you of being a moron, Dean. This guy? Maybe he should have dangled his scrotum over the comp holes. "Hey, you? Out of the gene pool. Now."]

during DonL's holster class I saw what the powder did to the paper at arms length out of a full size, no way would I ever try anything close to that with a C model, especially a compact C model.

This guy?

I'm still not sure about this guy. He uses the handle "BPSNIPER" and claims to be some sort of Border Patrol agent. Some of the guys I have talked to for years have met him and they say he is the genuine article. He sure makes some interesting posts and apparently gets to play with lots of neat toys.

If this incident showed up in his "jacket", I imagine the chief head-shrinker in his department would have something to say.

I knew a guy in high school that had a shirt like this one. Only the holes were caused by seeds popping as he smoked his dope. Too green I guess. Not sure.

I solved the carry problem by buying a spare, unported barrel for my 23C. Now I can now switch between ported and non in a matter of seconds.
